Affordable Fourth of July Travel Deals

It doesn’t get much more patriotic than a parade down Main Street, children waving flags, picnics, barbeques, and fireworks on the Fourth of July. But not everyone stays home to celebrate Independence Day. Many families use the long holiday weekend as a springboard for an extended summer vacation, which is why dozens of lodgings around the country are offering spectacular savings just in time for next month’s big bash.

Here’s a look at some of the top travel packages being offered to festive families looking to make the most of the Fourth of the July holiday:

VERMONT

Travel to Warren, Vermont during the Fourth of July weekend and you will undoubtedly get recruited to wave a flag during one of the most eclectic Independence Day parades around. The Mad River Valley is home to the wacky (yet patriotic) parade and hosts a slew of other noteworthy 4th of July festivities. There’s a massive BBQ in the middle of town, kid-friendly events galore, and of course, a huge fireworks display. To get in on all of the action book a room at the Sugar Lodge, a classic mountain chalet at the Sugarbush Ski Resort. Right now the lodge is offering the Warren 4th of July package. For just $289 per room you’ll get three nights’ accommodations in a standard room for two adults and two children, daily continental breakfast, and admission to the parade. At dusk, you can follow the rest of the townsfolk to Sugarbush Lincoln Peak for the best viewing of fireworks exploding over the Green Mountains.

VIRGINIA

If your clan loves spending time in the great outdoors you won’t want to miss the chance to celebrate the Fourth of July at the Wintergreen Resort in Wintergreen, Virginia. The popular lodging is tucked away in the Blue Ridge Mountains and packs a patriotic punch with live music, chairlift rides and fireworks displays that light up the mountain sky. The resort also caters to kids with swimming, canoeing, a block party, campfires and a specialty camp staffed with adults, which allows parents some alone. Rates for a 2-bedroom condo start at $305 per night during the first week in July.
