I am obsessed with the reality TV series “Undercover Boss.” Do you watch? If so, please tell me that you cry like a baby at the very end of the show. I do. Every.Single.Time.
I’m pretty sure I’ve seen every episode. If you tune in regularly, then you’ve probably picked up on a running theme: The gift of cruises given to employees featured on the show by the undercover CEO.
My 7-year-old daughter and I always joke that the only way we’d be able to set sail on a luxury cruise is if one of us ends up on the show.
Cruises don’t come cheap; however, there are ways you can depart on an ocean adventure without breaking the bank—or appearing on “Undercover Boss—if you play your cards right.
For example, if you are flexible with your travel dates, you could save a ton of money sailing on Norwegian Cruise Line. The company recently announced that it is bringing back its Kids Sail Free promotion–with a few caveats.
For starters, kids only sail free on select fall itineraries. The promo includes limited sailings to Alaska, Bahamas, Bermuda, Canada and New England. In addition, your children must be 17 years old and be booked in a cabin’s third and fourth berths when accompanying two paying adults.
Norwegian Cruise Line is also running a month-long promotion that includes free cabin upgrades. The offer, dubbed “The Great Upgrade Event,” allows you to score up to a four-category upgrade and reduced deposits on sailings to Alaska, the Bahamas and Florida, Bermuda, the Caribbean, Canada/New England, Europe, Hawaii and the Mexican Riviera.
But, here’s the catch: The promo only applies to sailings of three days or longer in 2013 and 2014, and bookings must be made by August 12, 2012. In addition to the cabin upgrades, you will also receive e-coupons worth up to $300 in on-board savings.
