Britney’s little sister led the way (in 2007 anyway) and now Jessica’s younger sis is getting in on the latest trend among young Hollywood—courting, conception… then (legal) commitment.
A few days ago I blogged about Ashlee Simpson and Pete Wentz’s decision to tie the knot after 18 months together. Today, OK! Magazine (and a slew of others) is confirming that Jessica Simpson’s 23-year-old sister is expecting her first baby this fall.
According to reports, Ashlee will make big sis Jessica an aunt sometime in October. As for the singer’s husband-to-be Pete Wentz, sources say the 28-year-old Fall Out Boy is “over the moon” about becoming a dad.
No word on whether the bun in Ashlee’s oven was the impetus for Wentz’s recent visit to Simpson’s parents house. Last week several publications speculated Wentz’s trip to see Ma and Pa Simpson was to ask for their daughter’s hand in marriage… now it appears the musician had other news to share that day and perhaps it wasn’t Wentz who was doing the asking.
OK! is also reporting that it stalked and chased down (I mean “caught up with”) the newly engaged pop star this weekend at a Malibu restaurant. They couldn’t get the mom-to-be to spill the beans about her current condition, but the magazine says their crack staff watched as the singer and bassist beau gathered to celebrate the college graduation of Wentz’s assistant. Only according to the mag, Ashlee spent more time in the ladies room then she did at the table and when she was upright she looked “green” and stuck to sipping water instead of chowing down on the eatery’s seafood delicacies.
OK! is also reporting that the young couple is planning to tie the knot before their first child is born. Sources say Ashlee wants to walk down the aisle in Vera Wang at an outdoor venue in Santa Barbara before she starts showing. Which means she has about five weeks to put together her dream wedding.
