Almond Pinecones

This makes a beautiful presentation at a Thanksgiving gathering. Because part of the recipe is made the day before it will also save you time the day of your event!

INGREDIENTS:
1 1/4 cup whole almonds
8 oz cream cheese, softened
1/2 cup mayonnaise
5 sliceS bacon, cooked and crumbled
1 tbs green onion, chopped
1/2 tsp dill weed
1/8 tsp pepper

DIRECTIONS:
1. Preheat oven to 300.
2. Spread almonds in a single layer in shallow pan.
3. Bake at 300F for 15 minutes, stirring often, until almonds just begin to turn color.
4. Combine cream cheese and mayonnaise. Mix well.
5. Add bacon, onion, dill and pepper. Mix well.
6. Cover and chill overnight.
7. Form cheese mixture into shapes of 2 pinecones on serving platter.
8. Beginning at narrow end, press almonds at slight angle into cheese mixture in rows. Continue overlapping rows until all cheese is covered.
9. Garnish with artificial pine sprigs. Serve with crackers.
