Apples New Mighty Mouse: Bluetooth Wireless Mouse

For all you Mac fans out there Apple has released a new wireless mouse to use with their computers. The wireless Mighty Mouse works with Bluetooth technology to operate your computer from up to thirty feet away.

Ok, so let me stop right there for a second. Thirty feet away? When I first read that particular spec for the Mighty Mouse I didn’t pay much attention to it. Now after giving it some though I’m a little fascinated. What exactly are you going to be doing that you need to be able to operate your computer from thirty feet away, and can you even see the screen at that distance?

I guess if you were into doing presentations for large groups of people and wanted to sit on the opposite side of the room from your computer, which was being projected onto a big screen you might have some sort of use for the thirty foot option. For those of us who want to use our wireless mouse a few feet away from our computer this mouse should work out just fine.

The Mighty Mouse gets its power from one or two AA batteries and uses laser tracking. The Mighty Mouse uses touch technology to detect whether you are clicking right or left and has programmable buttons on the sides which you can use to launch programs of your choosing.

One of the features of the Mighty Mouse that I am particularly fascinated with is the scroll bar that allows you to scroll around your page where ever you want. Typical mice will allow you to scroll top to bottom and left to right, the Mighty Mouse claims to be able to scroll 360 degrees all over your page even at diagonals.

The Mighty Mouse is available at any authorized Apple reseller as well as online at Amazon.com
