Our featured author today is Linda Paulson Adams. Linda, thank you so much for joining us. How many novels have you written and what are they about?
I have two novels out out so far, the first two parts of a trilogy, “Prodigal Journey” and “Refining Fire.” It’s an epic story set during the final days (Last Days, or End Times) before the Second Coming of Christ. The third volume is in the works.
When can we expect to see that elusive third book?
It’s been a long haul, hasn’t it? I’m still working on the rough manuscript, actually, but I plan to have that completed by spring (2007). Then it will go through edits and rewrites as I pass it through a hand-selected group of readers. So I don’t have a firm release date. But my goal is to bring it out by the end of the year.
Publishing this series has been filled with setbacks. My first publisher loved the book. My editor called it “addictive,” and Cornerstone awarded me a Fiction Book of the Year Award (2000). However, due to a complex series of events, they ceased publishing operations before they could go to press with the second volume. I requested my rights back, which freed me to approach other publishers. I soon learned that no one was interested in taking on a series midstream. My search for a new publisher lasted over two years. During that time, I tore apart the second manuscript and overhauled it into a much tighter story. So the delay became good for it, overall, but it was a frustrating exercise in disappointment.
It was a tremendous blessing to me to become part of LDStorymakers, Inc., who published the second book for me in 2004.
Didn’t you move recently?
We relocated our family to the Northwest which took me a bit off my game as we adjusted to the move. But I’m back on track now and ready to get moving on it again. That feels good.
And how do you like the Northwest?
We love it here. Absolutely. It was just not the easiest relocation process I’ve ever been through. Lots of changes, lots of adapting. It took me a while to process everything.
