Awesome Artwork

You can make your own artwork or have artwork made from photographs and other images.

Photographs

Have a favorite photo enlarged, or photocopy it to a larger size. Crop it and only use one interesting section for your artwork. Alternatively, you can use single items for a nice graphic look. Take one photo of an apple, one of an orange, and one of a bunch of grapes. Enlarge them, frame them, and hang them gallery style to create contemporary feel instead of the typical bowl of fruit art often found in kitchens. You can also try repeating the image multiple times on a smaller scale instead of using large, bold images. Using photos in black and white instead of color is also a great way to get a crisp, interesting look in other living spaces.

Create a Triptych

A triptych is simply three pieces, hung separately but close together, to form one unit of artwork. The image is continued on each of the pieces. A triptych can be made from a specific image or can be completely abstract. The simplest way to create one is to line the three pieces of canvas up against each other, sketch or project the image or design onto them as if they were all one piece, and then paint each piece (including the edges). When dry, hang the pieces at the same height an inch or two apart.

Have an Artist Remake Your Images

Here’s a really cool idea for personalized artwork. Have a photo of something or someone you love transformed into a pencil or colored pencil sketch, watercolor, oil painting, portrait, or Warhol inspired print by professional artists. Sketches start around $50.00, while other mediums cost more depending on the size, amount of time involved, and the intricacy of the image.
