Baked Pancakes with Sausage Links

1 pound of sausage links
1 3/4 cups flour
4 teaspoons baking powder
5 teaspoons sugar
1 teaspoon of salt
3 eggs
1 1/2 cups milk
3 tablespoons shortening, melted

Place sausages in a large skillet. Cook over medium high heat until evenly brown, drain, and set aside. Sift together the flour, baking powder, sugar, and salt, and then set aside. In a large mixing bowl, beat eggs until light and fluffy. Add milk and shortening, again mixing well. Gradually stir in dry ingredients until smooth. Pour the batter into a 10 x 15-inch jellyroll pan. Arrange sausages on top of the batter. Bake the batter at 450 degrees for 15 minutes or until pancakes are cooked through. Cut into 10 pieces and serve hot with butter and syrup.
