Be A Visitor in Your Own Town

With summer comes vacation planning. When making your plans don’t forget about your own town. There are so many free and low-cost excursions that are family-friendly too.

I have an entire day planned in downtown Mobile that’s not going to cost me a penny- except for the cost of lunch. In fact, I’m actually being paid for it because I’m writing an article about our adventure. What ’s more, one of the places I was planning to visit is having a family fun day on Thursday. I was planning to go next week because I’m just finishing two major articles and I wanted to take a break. But when I found out about the fun day I decided to go Thursday instead. This way we get to participate in extra fun like face painting.

No matter where you live you can surely find lots of fun things to do with your kids during the summer months. Most summer reading programs are under way. Summer camps are in full swing too. If you check with your local chamber or visitor’s bureau, you can probably find out what special events will be taking place over the summer. Don’t forget to check you local paper, daily if possible.

There’s so much to see and do! You can find out information about what’s available in your town or neighboring city online. Some facilities even offer virtual tours. If fact, if you can’t get travel this summer, plan a virtual tour. But whatever you do this summer, be safe and have fun!
