Benefits of Planning Ahead

left

Avid scrappers know that some layouts are a breeze to create while others can take hours to complete. However, it’s not always the execution that plagues us. Sure, an elaborate page design featuring advanced techniques, a myriad of mementos, a plethora of photos and mountains of embellishments can be a time consuming exercise, but a basic layout can also take a ton of time if you lack vision for the end result.

In order to expedite the process there are some simple shortcuts you can employ. For example, by printing pictures with white borders you can eliminate the need to purchase or use photo mats. This can save precious time and yield an attractive layout with very little effort. Another time saver that won’t compromise the overall look of your layout is to use store-bought or pre-printed party invitations as embellishments for themed page designs. By filling in the date, time, location, and listing the guest of honor on the card, you won’t need to add a separate journaling block to feature the information. You can also save time creating memory book pages by utilizing pre-designed kits. Many veteran scrapbook fans shun page kits because they think they are for beginners. However, these affordable kits can come in very handy if you need a quick fix or are having a hard time coordinating paper and embellishments for a themed layout.

Another way to speed up the scrapbooking process is to make sure you have the proper tools to create an eye-popping layout. Having to hunt for the right equipment to execute your vision is a huge waste of time. Likewise, working with a dull paper trimmer, broken punches or crummy scissors can also rob you of time. What’s more, using improper tools can negatively impact the look of your layout.
