August seems to be the month for back to school deals. And while that is very true, there are some other unexpected items that are available at great deals. Now is the best time to buy these items before prices soar.
So let’s start with back to school deals. You can find everything from a 7 cent box of crayons to $5.99 backpacks. The stores are all trying to get you in for your back to school shopping, all the while hoping that you will pick up a few extra items while you are there. The prices can be ridiculously low, as some stores actually lose money trying to outdo each other. Plus as an added benefit, you won’t go crazy trying to find four marbled composition books when everything is sold out.
Along with school supplies are back to school fashions and pre-season fall fashions. You’ll find lots of cool clothing for the kids, but you’ll also pick up deals on mens and women’s styles. There are some interesting silhouettes that are coming back for women and the sales are reflecting this.
While the fall clothing is coming, in the summer clothing is going out. There may not be much of a selection, yet, but August is a great month to get a bargain basement swimsuit deal, with up to 80 percent off whatever is still around.
One unexpected group that is showing some great discounts this month is “white sale” merchandise. Usually, we expect great white sales in January, but the retain industry is now adding August to its calendar for white sales. Sheets, pillowcases, bedding and related accessories are all on sale and deeply discounted this month.
Fresh produce is in abundance, now, even before the fall. You’ll find everything from blueberries to corn right now. And of course, there is lots of zucchini!
Outdoor furniture is another great steal this month. The stores really want to get rid of the large pieces so they can have room to put all of their Christmas merchandise on display. This is one of the times that you might even be able to haggle with the stores to get an even larger discount.
