With the Fourth of July holiday just around the corner, you may be looking for some fun and inexpensive things to do when your family and friends get together. Try some of these fun ideas:
* Rent a movie. Not too creative, right? Well, did you know that between now and July 4th you can print an online coupon from Blockbuster for a 99 cent video rental? Believe it or not, this coupon is good for any movie, including new releases. Pretty hard to resist, isn’t it? You may even want to rent a patriotic film to fit into the spirit of the holiday.
* Have a water fight. Ask participants to bring anything they might have that would be helpful in getting others wet: water guns, water balloons, buckets, hoses, etc. Or, you may choose to surprise your guests by soaking them all without giving them notice! Later, pull out a stash of water balloons and let everyone go at it.
* Try some traditional games. Outdoor games are often inexpensive and very fun. Have a three-legged race, tug-of-war, or even a big game of hide and seek. Even the simplest games can be a lot of fun when you get everyone (including the adults) involved. When was the last time you played one of these games?
* Have a watermelon-eating contest. This, of course, is another outdoor activity. Give each participant an even share of watermelon and see who can eat all of theirs the fastest.
* Have an Otter Pop tasting contest. Blindfold contestants. See if they can guess which flavor of Otter Pop you give them to taste. Otter Pops are one of the most inexpensive treats you can buy. Kids and adults all love them.
Whatever you choose to do when you get together this holiday, have fun…but don’t let the price tag haunt you after your celebrating is over.
