Buying a New Lounge Suite or Sofa

Buying a new lounge suite or sofa can be a lot of fun or it can turn into a hassle. When buying a new lounge or sofa, several things need to be considered. One, and for many people a highly important one, is the price. But even before you get to price you need to decide a few things.

Do you want leather? Then if you do, to get good leather you will have to pay more. Leather is practical and certainly easy to wipe over and keep clean. I know people who love their leather lounges because they are practical.

I’m not a fan of leather. I find it cold in winter. I can still feel it though my slacks or skirt and then hot and sticky in summer. I know a few people who agree with me. So you need to try them out and decide what sort of type of lounge you want.

On the other hand, a fabric lounge will not last as well, and may need more attention to stains. If you’re getting a fabric lounge or sofa, it’s a good idea to get it Scotch guarded or fabric protected. especially if you have small children or it will be in a heavy duty area. You might also consider whether you will have a throw to help protect certain areas. We have a fabric lounge and I find it is often it is the arms that need protecting more than the back or seat.

The other advantage with a fabric lounge is there is a wider range of color and designs. Of course don’t forget too, you may not need a new lounge. You could just get the old one covered, if everything else is okay, though sometimes this can cost almost as much as buying a whole new lounge.
