Cancun Vacation – Action Adventures

For the adventure loving family the Cancun area offers a variety of activities from speeding down a zip line through the jungle canopy to riding a quad down jungle trails.

Our family only had the time to visit Selvatura, but I have listed some additional extreme adventure activities your family might enjoy. Click on the adventure name to be directed to their web site.

Selvatura

Selvatura is an extreme adventure park with over 247 acres of jungle. It is located between Cancun and Playa del Carmen. Coming from Cancun the turn-off is on the right where you will follow a dirt road for about ½ hour.

Selvatura’s main attraction is a 2-mile zip line divided into 12 sections. Participants fly through the trees while getting a bird’s eye view of the jungle below. Along with the zip line you get to bike down jungle trails on Trek mountain bikes. There is also a huge cenote where participants can cool off. There are restrooms and a restaurant on-site.

zip line

The all-inclusive tour includes the zip line, biking, and a light lunch for $42 for adults and $29 for children. You can also just do the zip line for $30. Advanced reservations are needed because space is limited. Reservation times are 8am, 10am, and 12pm.

Aquaworld

Aquaworld offers a variety of adventures for the water-loving family. For more information and costs visit their website.
The activities include:

  • Driving a jet-ski through the mangroves and explore a coral reef
  • Sit in a sky rider and float high above the ocean
  • A glass-bottom submarine
  • Ocean fishing excursions
  • Sunset dinner cruise aboard the Cancun Queen

Bluewater Adventures

Bluewater is similar to aquaworld and offers many of the same adventures including:

  • Speedboat tour through the mangrove forest along with snorkeling
  • Private snorkeling adventures
  • A sunset dinner cruise upon a catamaran
  • A glass bottom boat, which allows you to see ocean life without getting wet
  • Ocean fishing excursions

Cancun Vista

This site offers a variety of tours many of them similar to those already listed but they also have a couple unique tours such as:

  • Drive your own jeep through the jungle, visit Mayan ruins and enjoy a cenote swim.
  • Make a guided jungle crossing in an Mercedes Benz Unimogs 4x4s, see the largest underwater cave system, snorkel, and kayak.

Marina Maroma

This is a large marina which offers a variety of water and land adventue activities similar to the ones above and also includes:

  • Horseback riding
  • Ridng 4-wheelers through the jungle followed by an ocean jet-ski ride or speed boat
  • Hang-gliding from a boat over the ocean
