Celebrating 3, Part 1

Today is my daughter’s third birthday. I cannot believe that time is moving so quickly. Wasn’t it just yesterday that she was a bald, compliant, and confused nine-month-old joining our family? It feels like yesterday. She is one of the great joys in my life. She is bright and funny, silly and naughty. She’s my toddler and I couldn’t love her any more.

Her actual birthday this year was on a Tuesday. It was an interesting day that, unfortunately, did not revolve around her. It started off as a pretty normal Tuesday. We got dressed and went to Gymboree Play & Music for Jessie’s Level 6 class. It was one of those Gymboree days when Jessie did not want to do any of the class activities; she wanted to run, climb, and jump on her own. She did do very well, though, with sitting on the big ball and letting the class sing Happy Birthday to her.

After Gymboree we went out for a Mexican food lunch and shopping at Babies R Us/Toys R Us that are all in the same center with Gymboree. What turned things in a different direction was Baby E. Baby E had been developing a cough and I had to call the pediatrician to try to get her seen. We were able to get in that day so we went straight there. We were early so we went up the street to Albertson’s to get a cake and supplies for an actual birthday day celebration.

We had so much fun celebrating turning three. Grandma had arrived the previous Friday and Grandpa arrived Monday. My mom made her famous chicken tortilla casserole for dinner. We gave Jessie her new Tickle Me Elmo doll and then we all ate Snickers chocolate cake. Jessie’s friend party is Saturday.
