Celebrity Baby Watch

There was a time (I’d like to say not long ago, but it more like a lifetime ago) when I thought basketball great Grant Hill and I would make the perfect couple. After all, we are the same age, we both love sports, and… well, it doesn’t matter now. We both ended up marrying other people and as it turns out Hill is now counting down the days until his second child is born.

Hill’s wife, R&B singer Tamia (who was diagnosed with multiple sclerosis in 2003) recently announced they are expecting a new addition to the family.

“I’m happy that the secret is out because it was getting very difficult to hide it,” says Tamia, who is four months along, wrote on her MySpace page. “I performed yesterday and I caught a glimpse of myself in a reflection and I thought, ‘Oh no, I’m going to have to talk about this.”

Hill and his wife already have a 5-year-old daughter and say they are looking forward to meeting their new bundle of joy.

The couple wed seven years ago after being introduced by singer Anita Baker (obviously that was the flaw in my plan to meet Hill—not knowing Anita Baker) while Grant led the Detroit Pistons to the NBA playoffs. He now plays for the Orlando Magic.

There hasn’t been an official announcement, but don’t be surprised to see actor John Travolta joining the ranks of daddies-in-waiting. The actor told news reporters that he would like to expand his family – if his wife, actress Kelly Preston, will allow it.

“There’s a thought of this summer maybe trying for a third but that depends on Kelly’s schedule,” Travolta recently told reporters at the ShoWest convention in Las Vegas. “I leave it up to her.”

Fifty-three-year-old Travolta and his 44-year-old wife have two children – Jett, 14, and Ella Bleu, 7.

“I really like having kids. I enjoy their energy and it keeps everything wonderful and hopeful,” Travolta said. “I grew up with six kids in my family. I thought I would have five or six.”

Perhaps, he’ll settle for three.
