Celebrity Fire Watch—–Update

If you are Suzanne Somers’ neighbors you have to be wondering if she is a lightning rod of sorts.

Can lightning really strike the same place twice?

The actress and her family have been forced to evacuate their temporary residence in Malibu as a ferocious wildfire closes in.

Sadly, the former “Three’s Company” star knows the drill all to well. You’ll recall Somers lost her beachfront home in another Malibu fire earlier this year. The actress moved into temporary digs nearby and news reports are now confirming that the massive blaze that has already charred thousands of acres is threatening that home as well.

I truly hope that Somers’ place is spared. But, at this point if Somers was looking to move into my neighborhood I would be looking to move out. It seems she is a lightning rod for flames.

But, as I mentioned in a previous blog, Somers isn’t the only celebrity affected by the disaster.

Property owned by actor Sean Penn was charred by the blaze late Sunday. And like Somers, Penn has been through this unfortunate situation before. Two trailers that were destroyed by fire yesterday were ones he put up next to the remains of his original home that was destroyed by a Malibu fire in 1993.

Another star desperately trying to save her multi-million dollar Malibu mansion is former “Friends” star Courteney Cox. A California TV station reported that firemen spent the morning hosing down the star’s house as flames spread near the structure. One station showed video of Cox (who obviously ignored evacuation warnings) spreading water around her property.

And in true Hollywood fashion, Dreamworks executive Jeffrey Katzenberg reportedly had his own team of private firemen spreading a flame retardant substance around his property on Sunday. Yes, according to an entertainment news show, Katzenberg apparently has his own private fire fighting team on his payroll.

Hope it pays off.
