Celebrity Moms’ Unique Ways to Get Fit and Inspire Kids

Supermodel Cindy Crawford doesn’t want her daughter to fall into society’s trap of being super skinny, so she employs a simple tactic to encourage 7-year-old Kaia to snack: She goes out of her way to eat ice cream and potato chips in front of her.

Does anyone else see the humor in this?

Grimaces aside, Crawford is serious about keeping her kids fit and encouraging them to establish healthy body images. The 42-year-old mom recently told reporters that she is determined to keep her daughter from sacrificing her health for her figure, so she goes out of her way to snack in front of her.

“I do want my kids to see their mom eating normally, so when we go for ice cream I’ll eat it,” the leggy former model said. “I don’t want my daughter to think she can’t eat ice cream.”

But, Crawford confesses that at her age she really doesn’t enjoy snacking because it means extra time at the gym. Basically, the whole ice-cream eating thing is done for the sake of her children, so they don’t develop obsessive dieting habits.

Hmmm… I’ll have to remember that one the next time I devour an entire pint of Ben and Jerry’s Chocolate Brownie Fudge in front of my daughter.

For the sake of the children… for the sake of the children…

Ashlee Simpson might want to take notes from Crawford. She recently gave birth to her first son with rocker hubby Pete Wentz, and now the 24-year-old songstress says she is determined to shed the baby weight.

Her workout of choice: Mommy and Me Yoga. According to Simpson, she and 3-month-old Bronx Mowgli hit the yoga studio twice a week. Simpson says so far she has lost 15 of the 30 pounds she gained during her pregnancy.

In addition to yoga, the former reality TV star is also following Jackie Keller’s 30-day Body After Baby plan and taking low-impact aerobic classes. Simpson is also watching what she eats by feasting on Nutrifit meals and snacks, which she has delivered, daily.

The singer also reveals that she has reduced her fast-food intake, choosing to eat just one slice of veggie pizza, instead of the multiple Supreme slices she ate while pregnant.
