Charlie Sheen’s Young Daughters Involved in Car Accident

Fortunately, the girls escaped unharmed, but their famous father says it was a “close call.”

According to police reports, 4-year-old Sam and 3-year-old Lola Sheen were being driven by their nanny in a Mercedes SUV around Malibu Friday afternoon when a Honda Civic made a turn in front of them. The crashed reportedly sparked a four-car collision, which left the driver of the Honda in serious condition.

Reports say Sheen and ex-wife Denise Richards’s daughters were unharmed.

“Charlie told me that the girls are fine,” the actor’s publicist told reporters. “He said it could have been much worse. They were in their car seats, and he is extremely grateful for the safety features from Mercedes.”

Whereas I have never driven a Mercedes (in my entire life), my daughter is the same age as Lola and she too rides in a car seat. Personally, if I were Sheen, I would be crediting the girls’ Britax, Evenflo or Graco safety seats for protecting Sam and Lola instead of the Mercedes. I’m sure the structure and integrity of the SUV did play a part in cushioning the impact; however if the girls were not buckled in correctly no amount of German steel or engineering could keep them from flying out of the vehicle.

Meanwhile, family and friends of Dakota Culkin are still reeling from her tragic death in a traffic accident.

Macaulay Culkin’s 29-year-old sister was accidentally struck by a car in L.A. Tuesday night, and died the next day from her injuries.

Today, friends of the production assistant shared personal anecdotes about their pal with reporters.

“Dakota was a real sweetheart, a really good kid,” says Dana Schroeder, a director who worked with Culkin behind the scenes on the independent film “Lost Soul.”

Another of Culkin’s close friends revealed this cruel irony: Dakota had recently moved from New York City to L.A. to pursue a career in film production and was just getting settled in her new home when she was killed.
