Cheap Decor Ideas with Old Magazine Paper

Need some decorating ideas with no cost? If you have piles of old magazines that you no longer need, you can use the paper to create some unique decor for your home. All you need is a little effort and some imagination. This is also a fun project for your children to help with.

First, browse through your piles of old magazines to find the pages with nice, bright colors. Basically you can do this with any color pages from any magazines, but the magazines with glossy and thick pages with color on both sides are especially good. Pull off the pages and cut them into squares. We will use these squares to practice your origami skills. You may want to make larger squares to create larger origami pieces. If so, just stick several pages together with glue to make large pieces of paper and cut them into large squares.

Here are some origami ideas that you can do with those colourful pages from your old magazines.

Paper Birds

Follow these instructions to make origami paper birds here. Make about twenty birds (or more if you want). You can also make different sizes of birds using different sizes of squares. Make a little hole on the top part of each bird and loop a thread through it. Hang the birds from the ceiling with paper pins or blue/white tacs. Make sure you cut different lengths of thread to make your birds fly at varying heights.

Paper Tulips

You can also make paper tulips to decorate your desk or a corner table. Find the instructions to make a bouquet of tulips here. Use squares of different colors and sizes to make your colorful bouquet.

Now you have a flock of birds flying around and a beautiful bouquet of flowers to create a unique and colorful look in your room!
