Cheaper By the Dozen 2: On DVD May 23rd

cheaperCheaper by the Dozen 2 is released today on DVD. In the movie the Baker family decides to go on one last great lake house summer vacation together. The two oldest girls in the family are about to move out and the Bakers want to do one more big family outing before everything starts to change.

If you didn’t see Cheaper by the Dozen, then you need to know by “big family outing” they mean big. The Baker family has twelve children in it, thus the dozen. As you can imagine doing anything with a family that large is an invitation for comedic mishap.

In the movie all fourteen of them pack their bags and head out to the lake for a vacation filled with fun, excitement, and family rivalry. Family rivalry? Once they reach the lake Tom Baker (Steve Martin) runs into his old nemesis Jimmy Murtaugh (Eugene Levy) and his wife and eight children.
The Bakers and the Murtaughs engage in a good number of competitions and stunts all to satisfy their father’s need to say that their family is “better”. In typical Romeo and Juliet fashion two sets of children from each family end up having slightly budding romances, much to the dismay of their parents.

This movie isn’t really appropriate for children under the age of nine or ten. There is a good deal of potty humor throughout the film, and some of the antics tend to get rather violent. In the movie the fathers each encourage their children to steal, plot, and cheat in order to beat the other family which are more than likely values you don’t want to instill in a younger child who may mimic what they see in the movie.

This can be a fun movie however for older children to watch. Think about the Brady Bunch with a funny competitive streak. The movie also has a pretty all star cast with Steve Martin, Bonnie Hunt, Carmen Electra, Eugene Levy and Hilary Duff all in the film.

Cheaper By The Dozen 2 runs an hour and forty minutes and can be purchased anywhere DVDs are sold as well as online at Amazon.com
