Children in the Kitchen

A great way to get kids excited about cooking is with involvement. Unfortunately, many adult cookbooks simply do not cut it, which is why I decided to do a search to find some great kids cookbooks. After all, spending time in the kitchen “cooking” with mom or dad is actually fun to most kids. In addition to spending quality time together, creating a wonderful bond, you are also teaching your children much-needed life skills.

-There’s a Chef in my Soup – Written by Emeril, this cookbook is great for the entire family. With easy to follow illustrations in this 242-page book, you will find great lessons about meals, as well as salads, desserts, and even tools and safety.

-The Kids’ Cookbook – This book is presented by Williams-Sonama, featuring colorful and simple recipes for children over the age of nine. Included are meal ideas for breakfast, lunch, and dinner, in addition to snacks, side dishes, and desserts. The cookbook also includes a wonderful illustrated glossary on kitchen equipment.

-Children’s Cookbooks Based on Favorite Children’s Books – This new concept in children’s cooking is making a huge impact. All of the recipes are based on food or meals found in children’s books. While cooking, the children can also be encouraged to read the very book from which the recipe is derived.

-Children’s Quick and Easy Cookbook – Produced by DK Publishings, this cookbook is loaded with great photographs of ingredients. Additionally, the illustrated step-by-step processes make learning fun but also easy. Even children not old enough to read can enjoy this special book.

-The Cooking Book – If you want fun meals and great snacks, this cookbook is perfect. The instructions are simple enough for children while the recipes are delicious and fun to make. In addition to traditional food, this cookbook also features a section on Play Dough, teaching children how to make fun foods made from bread.
