Now that Thanksgiving is over, the countdown to Christmas is on, and that means parents are under even more pressure to cram as much as humanly possible into a 24-hour period.
For many moms and dads that means more Bah! Humbug! than fa-la-la-la-la, but such is the society-driven hoopla surrounding the birth of Christ.
In addition to cooking, cleaning and coordinating school holiday concert schedules, parents must rack their brains to come up with meaningful gifts for grandparents, aunts, uncles, pizza delivery men and other major influences in their child’s life. What’s more, most of us also feel obligated to show some semblance of appreciation to the person who spends the majority of the day with our kids—-their teachers.
So what do you get for that special educator in your child’s life during the holiday season?
Perhaps a better question is: What do teachers really want for Christmas?
A “World’s Best Teacher” coffee mug? A wooden appreciation plaque? A “No.1 Teacher” pencil holder?
Not so much, according to several popular bloggers, who also happen to be veteran teachers.
If you really want to show some love for your kid’s teacher this holiday season consider gifting her with some Clorox wipes, Lysol, crayons or dry erase markers.
According to teacher bloggers, helping them replenish school supplies this time of year is “pretty darn special.”
You can thank the abysmal economy for that.
Teachers say that when the economy tanked, so did their classroom budgets, so if you really want to make an educator smile this holiday season gift her with school supplies, such as:

*Subscription to an educational magazine for students
*Books for classroom library

*Magnets
*Sidewalk chalk

You might consider putting together a basket filled with a few of the aforementioned items and adding in some coffee, tea or a gift card to a local restaurant for good measure.
By the way, the worst gift you can give your child’s educator this holiday season (according to teacher bloggers) is: homemade foods. Apparently, there have been a number of poisoning incidents nationwide, and while teachers appreciate the effort put forth in making tasty treats, they would rather not take any chances.
