Cleaning Outdoor Furniture

Is your outdoor furniture ready for spring? The weather is getting warmer here, and we have had a few nice days. I have to tell you, though, that it is pretty strange to have a warm spring day where I can wear just a light jacket and yet see snow on the ground.

You see, we’ve had a lot of snow: tons and tons of snow. So, while it is melting, it takes a while for those warmer days to whittle down at the many feet of snow and ice that was laying on the ground.

Still, I am about ready to take my laptop out on the screened porch and work there, where I can catch some spring breeze. The only problem is that the furniture out there is in a bit of a mess. All of that weather we had has left everything pretty gritty. Plus, I think there are a few summer birthday party ice cream stains that seem to have slipped by our notice.

While outdoor furniture is built to take being outdoors, it still requires care. Ignore that care, and the furniture will start to look dingy and old before its time.

When it comes time to clean your outdoor furniture, there are a few steps that will make the process easier.

First, do a visual inspection of everything, This will give you a good idea of the condition of everything. Some pieces may only need a quick wipe down, while others may need more thorough treatment. Is there anything that is in need of repair. If so, address these items first. Decide what is worth fixing and how to get it fixed.

Check back next week, when I reveal the next steps for getting that outdoor furniture spring ready.
