Cool New Photo Products

If you like to keep up to date with the newest photography products, this post is for you. Here are some new products that can help you take, share, print and filter photos better.

First, we have the Olympus EVOLT E-330, the world’s first interchangeable digital SLR, that features a live view image on the LCD screen and an optical viewfinder. The LCD screen can extend out from the camera body, enabling the photographer to shoot over people’s heads, from ground level, or from the hip.

Metz has two new handle-mounted flash units, designed specifically for digital cameras. They offer high light output and an adapter system that allows them to be used with a variety of camera models. The units can also tilt up to 90 degrees and swivel 360 degrees.

The U3 Data Traveler by Kingston Technology, is smaller than a pack of gum and comes in capacities of up to 2GB. It includes software that helps file, organize and share photos. Some of the preloaded software is ACDSee, Zinio, and Pass2Go.

The world’s first real-time digital angle viewfinder has been released by Argraph Corporation. The viewfinder simply attaches to your camera’s eyepiece (digital or film SLR), and displays the image in real time on a 2-inch TFT color LCD. Similar to the viewfinder on the Olympus EVOLT E-330, the angle viewfinder is very useful for high and low angle photography. There is also a motion detection shutter release mechanism.

Gretagmacbeth introduces the new Eye-One automatice chart reader, ideal for high production environments such as prepress, photo processing, high speed digital printing and fine-art printing.

Tamron introduced the AF70-300mm f/4-5.6 Di LD zoom lens, with a macro switch that can be used in the 180mm-300mm range, to allow close up photography with a minimum focusing range as short as 95cm. The lens has an optical system that allows it to work with both film and digital cameras.

And finally, Omegasatter has announced the Z-PRO filter holder. It will fit the newest digital and film cameras, and can accept filters from 1.6mm to 4.0mm in thickness, as well as be easily dismantled. The holder is fully reversible too, to prevent vignetting when using ultra wide-angle lenses, such as fisheye lenses.
