What is a landing page?
The landing page is the first thing potential Facebook fans see when they visit your fan page. Therefore it serves as a virtual first impression of your business or blog. A potential fan clicks the Like button based on their first impression. What do you want a new person to see? What do you want them to know about you, your business and/or your blog? Often the Wall, which is the most common landing place, does not reflect the full version of your brand. Control what potential fans see by having them land on a Welcome page.
What is on a Welcome page?
A Welcome page is essentially a greeting and introduction of yourself and your brand. You can design it to include your branding, in other words, the look of your blog or business. Include a link to your blog or business website and a brief introduction who you are and what you represent. Call potential fans to action by including “Like this page for encouragement in parenting” or “Like this page to keep up on the best deals in your city.” You can also include the option of joining a newsletter or an email list.
How do you make a tab the landing page?
At the top right side of your page you will a button called “Edit Page”. Click on the button and then go to “manage permissions”. You will find that tab on the left hand side of your page. Then in the second section of the page under “Wall Tab Shows” you will find “Default Landing Tab”. Click on the drop down button and it will show you all your tabs as options for a landing page. The default is your Wall. Select your Welcome page or whatever you chose to call it. Now, when someone goes to your page they will find a proper introduction before “liking” your page.
