Have you ever just needed a jolt of inspiration to get yourself back into the scrapbooking mood? I suggest attending a Creating Keepsakes Scrapbook Convention.
There are many different scrapbooking getaways to choose from varying from weekend retreats at a cabin to a spa and scrapbook week at a resort. The thing that I really like about the CK convention is that you can choose how much time you want to spend at the event, rather than committing yourself to several consecutive days away from home. You could just go for an afternoon, or choose to spend the entire two days at the convention. There is flexibility because you make your own schedule.
The Creating Keepsakes conventions are held in several cities across the U.S. throughout the year. The conventions start on Thursday night and end on Saturday night.
There are two different components to the convention.
The first part of the convention is a terrific vendor faire. Many of the scrapbooking companies are there with a booth and they sell their products. They usually have show specials and you can find some nice deals. Some of my favorite companies that are usually at the vendor faire are Rusty Pickle, SEI, Making Memories, Technique Tuesday, Xyron and L’il Davis Designs.
The second part of the convention is a wonderful selection of classes that you sign up for that are about a variety of scrapbook and paper crafting topics. The cost of the classes ranges from $13 to $35 per class. The cost is determined by the length of the class (most range between one and two hours) and the type of project completed in the class. When you walk into the class, you are given a class kit with everything you will need for the class project. The projects classes include card making, layout design, new embellishment ideas, and (my favorite) mini albums. The classes range from beginner to advanced, this is listed in the class description.
They also offer crops for each night of the convention where you can receive lots of scrapbook giveaways.
If you are looking for new scrapbooking inspiration, a Creating Keepsakes Convention might just be the answer!
