Cute Ways to Store and Organize Toys

Here are some cute ideas for storing and organizing toys, especially those stuffed pets and beanbag animals that take up so much space. You can hang them up and get them off surfaces or the floor using plastic chain.

Perimeter Chain

Plastic chain is available in different size loops and in bright primary colors as well as black or white. A great way to hang up those toys is to secure a large mug hook at each stud around the room, and hang the chain from the hoops. For a more interesting look swag a length of plastic chain between each hook, or use more than one color of chain.

Vertical Corner Chain

Another option is securing a mug hook from the ceiling or the top of the wall in a corner and hanging plastic chain from the hook. Hang one in each corner if needed, and alternate between different colors if desired.

Window Treatment

Several rows of plastic chain hanging from the top of the window frame can be used to make a cute, colorful window treatment. You can use this treatment alone, or hang small toys from the rows of plastic chain. For more privacy, use a shade behind the chains.

Other Options

Plastic chain can also be strung between bedposts using hooks to secure it in place. You can then hang toys or stuffed animals as a way to give a plain bed more interest.

Hooks and Fasteners

You can purchase plastic “S” hooks to hang toys and stuffed animals from the plastic chain. These are also available in different sizes and colors. One end slips through the chain loop, and the other end is used to hang the toy. Another alternative is to use large, brightly colored clothespins or strips of decorative, colorful ribbon or yarn to hang toys from chains.
