Deals to Dutch Country

Who says your limited budget has to put a damper on your wanderlust ways?

Deals to Europe have been popping up more and more now that the busy summer travel season is winding down. The following deal to the Netherlands being offered by EuropeASAP is one of the best around.

For just $989 per person you will receive roundtrip airfare from New York to Amsterdam (add $50 for Atlanta, $70 for Minneapolis, $90 for Miami, $180 for Portland, and $190 for L.A.), three nights’ accommodations with daily breakfast at a 3-star hotel, and a six-night car rental (economy-class, two- or four-door manual-transmission rental car with insurance and unlimited mileage). Hotel taxes and fees are also included in the package price. The deal is good for travel on October 27-December 11, 2008, and January 7-March 19, 2009, but you must book by August 4, 2008.

The travel package dubbed “Netherlands Holiday” begins with an overnight flight (on an airline such as United or Delta) to Amsterdam. Once you land you will be transported to the HEM Hotel where you will stay for three nights. The 216-room hotel has modern decor and on-site dining. It’s located in the southwest part of the city, near the World Trade Center. Other popular attractions in the area include the Anne Frank House, the Van Gogh Museum and the Rijksmuseum, along with a host of historic canals and bridges.

From there you will pick up your rental car and begin the road-trip part of your journey. You’ll have the car for six nights and can head in whatever direction you’d like to explore. One area you could visit is Utrecht, about 45 minutes by car from Amsterdam, where you can tour the Gothic spire of Domtoren, the tallest cathedral tower in the Netherlands. Another popular tourist spot is Leiden, a picturesque town with canals, windmills, and several museums. Regardless of where you go, you will be responsible for your own hotel accommodations.
