Decorating for Halloween or Harvest Day

Fall Decorating Autumn LeavesHave you started decorating for Halloween or Harvest Day yet? We have less than 30 days to go! I’m running a little behind because we have two birthdays in the first two weeks of October (one of which is today), but I’ve been looking at all the cool stuff that is available. These days, it’s not just Christmas that offers tons of decorations. I saw the cutest string of fall lights the other day!

I have also noticed that Halloween and Harvest day decorations are now available in more colors. You have much more to choose from than just black and orange any these days. There is purple and yellow, there’s more white, and of course all the great autumn colors can be incorporated into your decorating plans.

For those of us who do not have a big budget for holiday decorating items, choosing an overall fall decorating scheme may work better. We can go with hay and scarecrows, pumpkins, squash, and brightly colored leaves to create a charming effect that will work from Harvest Day all the way through Thanksgiving.

Don’t forget those fun pumpkin leaf bags that can be made into instant lawn ornaments! You can clean up your yard and decorate it at the same time. You can choose the jack-o-lantern style for Halloween, or choose plain pumpkins. Get the whole family involved and raking leaves will be out of the way in no time. Not only that, but you’ll have a cute decoration (or several) for very little cost and you and your kids will have a lot of fun doing it.

I’ll be sharing fun ideas in the Kid’s Crafts section if you’d like to take a look. I posted a couple, like the simple scarecrow or spooky spoons and other fall crafts last month, but I’ll have a lot more this month.
