With more than a foot of semi-fresh snow on the ground, it certainly doesn’t feel like spring in my neck of the woods. Still, with March coming to a close and summer right around the corner, I know I should get cracking on my spring cleaning to-do list. While I have tackled some minor chores, I still have a ton of deep-cleaning to do.
While most of us clean on a regular basis, there are some tasks that require more than just a quick disinfecting. Spring is one of the seasons that prompt people to really get serious about cleaning. If the process is overwhelming and you don’t know where to begin, then consider this short list of spring cleaning tasks:
Thoroughly dust all areas of the home from the ceilings (use a vacuum attachment or broom to remove cobwebs) to the floors (wipe down corners and baseboards).
Clean cabinet doors and hardware with a mixture of dishwashing liquid and warm water.
Polish your silverware and dust off fine china.
Disinfect door knobs and light switches.
Clean all window treatments. Wash curtains and wipe down blinds.
Shampoo carpets and rugs.
Move and clean under and behind major appliances.
Wash bed linens and flip the mattress.
Clean all windows, mirrors and glass surfaces.
Deep clean your refrigerator inside and out. Dump old food and wipe down shelves and drawers. Finish by cleaning the coils on the back of the fridge.
Sweep and hose down your driveway, deck or patio.
Clean out gutters and make sure there are no leaks or clogs.
Walk around the house and remove any cobwebs, bee hives or hornets’ nests.
Wash the outsides of all windows. Remove screens and wash them too.
Clean your grill.
Replace any burned out light bulbs in exterior lighting fixtures.
