Typically, I don’t design New Year’s Eve layouts until at least the third month of the following year.
I guess I should resolve to get my page designs done quicker.
Still, a little procrastination doesn’t have to compromise a festive holiday layout. As long as you can execute your theme with eye-popping embellishments and meaningful content, you shouldn’t fret about when the final product is revealed.
This year I have big plans for my New Year’s Eve scrapbook layouts. For the first time ever I am planning to create a time capsule page. I got the idea at a scrapbooking convention I attended earlier this year. The layout features newspaper clippings that highlight important events from the past year, as well as receipts showing the current price of milk, bread, and other necessities. I will also be adding some postcards from my family’s summer vacation, plus a bunch of drawings my 7-year-old made on the first day of school. You can tailor your time capsule layout so it showcases other personal memorabilia you collected during the year. Just be sure your items capture what life was like for you in 2011.
I’ve decided to go with a black and white color scheme for my New Year’s Eve scrapbook pages. In addition, I will be accenting the layouts with touches of gold and silver. I purchased some paper printed with mini champagne flutes during a post-holiday sale and plan to add a bit of glitter and flocking powder to the pages after I select my embellishments.
Stickers, stamps and die cuts in party hat, balloon, and noise maker shapes, make up the bulk of my embellishments. However, I have some confetti, felt flowers, rhinestone brads and ribbon that I will also be adding to the pages to really make them pop. With a little creativity, you too can create memorable New Year’s Eve layouts before the clock strikes 12 too many times.
