Digital Vs. Paper and Scissor Scrapbooking

Digital scrapbooking is the newest way to scrapbook, though it has been around for a couple of years. Recently however, with the new programs and techniques available in the digital world, it has gained a greater following. Scrapbooking with paper and scissors has been around for a very long time, dating back hundreds of years. Though it seemed to have really bloomed in the late 90’s. So which is better?

Honestly, I feel it is a personal choice. Scrapbooking any way, is a personal choice, and there is not a right or wrong answer. It is about the way you feel the most comfortable, the way that allows you the most creativity, and the way that makes you most connected the hobby.

For me, I have not quite gotten bit by the digital bug, though I will admit I have been tempted several times. I have downloaded the trial versions of the different software programs, and I have tried them out, but they stifle my creativity. They don’t allow me as many options as I could have with paper and scissors. Though other scrapbookers might disagree.

For some, digital scrapbooking allows a greater freedom, is not as time consuming nor is as costly as regular paper and scissor scrapbooking. In fact, individuals who snubbed their nose at scrapbooking when it first got it’s start, deeming it as another hobby in which to spend money and lose time, find the ease of scrapbooking digitally to be just their style.

So in honesty, I could sit and debate why I find paper and scissor scrapbooking far more superior to digital, it just is not the case. It is an individual choice and should be made based on what works the very best for you. What some may find soothing and creative about using paper and scissors for scrapbooking, others might find easier and limitless about digital scrapbooking.

Remember that it is a personal choice. I feel strongly it is one, that should be made by each individual scrapbooker, as they discover their own needs. Try them both, and choose the one that works for you.
