Disney’s Wilderness Lodge

So you wanted a Rocky Mountain getaway and the kids wanted a Disney vacation? No need to lose any sleep over the decision! Disney’s Wilderness Lodge is surrounded by huge pine, cypress and oak trees and is made to look just like what you’d find on a vacation to Yellowstone National Park. With an eight story lobby complete with an 82 foot, three sided stone fireplace, this resort sets out to impress it’s guests and does the job like only Disney can do. Inside the lobby is what appears to be a hot spring that goes outside the hotel and turns into a creek with a waterfall that will lead you directly to the pool. Log columns, chandeliers, totem poles and rocking chairs by the fire add to the Rocky Mountain ambiance you’ll find in central Florida. Just in case you miss the excitement of a geyser eruption, just wait a few minutes. One erupts here every hour, on the hour.

There are 728 guest rooms at Disney’s Wilderness Lodge and all are decorated in earth tones to keep the rustic feel of the place.

The standard rooms will accommodate a family of four (or five if the fifth is a child in a crib). Each standard room has two queen-sized beds or one queen-sized bed and a bunk bed.

The deluxe rooms at Disney’s Wilderness Lodge offer guests five-hundred square feet of living space and will comfortably accommodate up to six people with separate living and sleeping areas. The sleeping area has two queen sized beds and the living area has a sleeper sofa. The deluxe rooms offer a woodland view, and each includes a television in the living and bedrooms as well as a refrigerator, coffee maker and wet bar.

For those of you desiring more deluxe accommodations, the seventh floor of the Wilderness Lodge includes concierge rooms and four honeymoon suites. (Look for more on concierge rooms and suites at Walt Disney World in another blog!)

The Wilderness Lodge offers limited room service but does participate in the refillable mug program. Food service ranges from formal dining to cafeteria style service and a character breakfast is offered daily.

You’ll also have at your convenience a lounge, poolside bar, convenience store, heated outdoor pool, kiddie pool, two hot tubs, a lake, an arcade, boat and bike rentals, laundry facilities, child care and, of course, free transportation to and from the Walt Disney World parks.
