Do Fitness Apps Work?

Technology is amazing. I am always surprised at the innovative ways technology changes our world. Perhaps I am alone in this but I only recently discovered that there are Fitness Apps available for your iPod or iPhone. So now I am left to wonder if fitness apps really work.

My husband and I are eagerly waiting for December, when we can upgrade our phones. We have been checking out the Droids and all the features they offer. I was so happy when I recently discovered that fitness apps exist. Apparently there is an app for everything.

I tend to get bored easily when it comes to fitness. I don’t like doing the same thing over and over again. So I appreciate the fact that technology can make fitness more exciting. I find that when I have more selection, I tend to stay motivated.

Apparently a new Fitness app has been released that has made Apple’s list for pick of the week (August 11th). It’s an app for runners called Iolo Burn. For just $4.99 you can download this app that offers expert coaching and tempo-shifted music to keep you motivated on your run.

Unlike other fitness apps, you can change the tempo of the music to match your stride. This allows you to set the intensity of your running workout. Yet your playlist continues at the correct tempo. I don’t know about you but I find this to be pretty impressive.

I try not to run out there and buy every new fad that hits the market. I usually give it some time to see what others say. So now my question is, “Do fitness apps work?”

I would really love to hear from readers who have used them. Let the rest of us know what you think about them and if they are really worth it.
