Do You Really Need to Lose Weight?

You’ve met those people with overblown egos, right? Well, some of us have overblown self images too, the bad kind. Some of us have been focusing on that last five pounds for so many years that we don’t even realize that we just aren’t overweight. All too often, we compare ourselves with the emaciated models and celebrities we see in popular magazines and that skews our own reality of what is and is not overweight. Well, it is time we all had a reality check!

The easiest way to see if you are actually overweight is to check your Body Mass Index. I found a great Body Mass Index Calculator at the Ladies Home Journal Website that I would like to share with you.

Unlike most BMI calculators, this one gives you more than just a number that you may or may not know what to do with. All you need to do is insert your height and weight. The calculator does the rest instantly. It will give you your Body Mass Index number but it will tell you what that number means. If your number is high, it will tell you that you may be overweight and should discuss it further with your doctor. It will also mention if your BMI is low and you may be underweight. The best thing that it does is gives you a healthy weight zone in pounds for a person your height.

Sometimes we get so caught up with trying to weigh what other people weigh that we completely lose sight of what a healthy weight range is for our own body. Knowing what weight range is healthy for your particular body is the first step in knowing whether or not you really need to lose weight. Do yourself a favor and check out this calculator.

Losing weight is tough enough. Why set yourself up for failure with unrealistic goals when you can approach your weight loss plan sensibly?
