Does Your Husband Support Your Dreams?

There are many, many writers’ forums out there. I have noticed a huge amount of women who aspire to one day be the author of a book. I wonder how many of these women have the support of their husbands?

In many of Courtney’s articles, she discusses the support that she receives from her husband. He supports her ghost hunting interests as well as her career as a writer.

Other women may not be so lucky. One very important part of marriage is to accept each other as themselves. When accepting your mate, you must also accept his or her interests, dreams, and goals.

Some couples have a very difficult time doing this.

I think that men have the hardest time accepting the dreams of their wives beginning their own business or becoming a writer.

It seems that husbands have a hard time taking their wives seriously when they confess that they want to write a novel or start a business.

While these goals can be very realistic they can also take much time and money. This I believe is the factor that men have trouble with supporting.

In some cases the husband may ridicule, make fun of, and even forbid the dream from happening. In order cases, the lack of support is not harsh but just neutral. He does not comment on the dream or take involvement in it. He acts as if it does not exist.

When a true interest of support is involved, he asks questions about progress and questions what he can do to help. He attends events with you and offers advice.

While the main discussion of this article focused more on the husband’s support of the wife, the wife must also remember that husbands need support too. There are many men out there that also have dreams. As a couple, let’s help make these dreams come true!
