Doodle Your Heart Out

Even if you are not that great at drawing, doodling on you scrapbook pages can be a fun way to think outside the box, add some dimension, or just have fun! I fell in love with doodling on my pages, and just cannot seem to stop. If I try to make a layout without some doodling, I find myself grabbing that black or white pen and thinking, where do I need to draw something?

There are endless possibilities for doodling. You can get super creative, or keep it simple. Here are a few ideas for keeping it simple.

1. Outline Things. So often in my layouts, I outline a paper to give it more dimension. Draw a box around your title, or even draw on chipboard embellishments to make them pop more.

2. Doodle your title. I would only suggest doing this if you have pretty good penmanship. Otherwise, it would just look messy.

3. Doodle your embellishments. Love stars or hearts on a page? Draw them! Doing a holiday page? Draw a pumpkin or a Christmas tree.

4. Create a border or frame. Take a pen and doodle scallops around the outside of the main page, or around a single photo. There is no reason why you have to buy those things if you have a knack for drawing.

5. Flourishes. There are lots of stamps out there to help you make perfect flourishes on the page. But, have you ever tried drawing a swirl? It’s not that hard!

By doodling on your pages, you will make it unique. There are lots of people out there that have the same papers and embellishments, but not a lot of people can copy your own drawing abilities. Start small on your page. If you have a layered look, trying outlining just one of your papers in black ink. If it is a dark paper, use white ink. See if you like how it looks, and if you do, try branching out and doodling even more on your page.
