Dynamic Mexican Dips

I love Mexican food. What I like most about Mexican food is dipping tortilla chips into all kinds of different sauces. There are a couple of recipes I got for some dips, but I altered them to my own taste. The salsa dip I found on a website a few years ago, but I don’t remember which one. I got the general idea for the guacamole from Rachael Ray of “30-Minute Meals” on the Food Network. I hope you enjoy them!

Sassy Salsa

  • 1 16oz jar of medium salsa (If you like it more or less spicy, you can use hot or mild)
  • 1 16 oz container of sour cream
  • Cilantro, to taste
  • Tortilla chips

Combine salsa and sour cream into a bowl. Chop cilantro and add as much or as little as you like.

Serve with tortilla chips and enjoy!

Garlicky Guacamole

  • 2 Hass avocados
  • 1 lemon
  • 1 large sweet onion, pureed
  • 1 large tomato, chopped finely
  • 4 cloves garlic, minced
  • ½ tsp kosher salt, separated into ¼ tsps
  • Cilantro, to taste
  • Tortilla chips

First, you will want to puree your onion, chop your tomato, and mince your garlic. It doesn’t matter which order you do it in, as long as you do it before you cut the avocados.

Cut avocados around the pits (If you’ve never cut an avocado, it’s best to do this lengthwise). Spoon out pits and throw away. Spoon out avocado insides into a bowl. Squeeze lemon over avocados to prevent darkening (Watch out for the seeds!). Mash avocados. You can do this with a fork, but if you ever double or triple this recipe, it’s easier to use a potato masher.

Mix avocados, onion, tomato, and garlic. Continue to mash in order to mix the flavors better. Add ¼ tsp kosher salt.

Chop cilantro and add to guacamole. This is optional, but I find it adds a little extra tastiness to the recipe. Add additional salt to taste.

Serve with tortilla chips and enjoy!

Note: Remember that you can always alter the recipes to suit your own taste. That is how I came up with these personalized versions of these two dips. Don’t be afraid to experiment! You never know when you might create a legendary recipe.
