Who says you have to get all Martha Stewart in order to craft egg-citing Easter decorations?
If you have eager young helpers at home, who are old enough to work a crayon or marker, then you can design a slew of holiday-themed items to decorate your living space.
Here are some easy Easter projects to get you started:
HANDPRINT EASTER BUNNY
Materials:
White computer paper
Construction Paper
Crayons or markers
Glue
Scissors
Directions:
Have your child trace his handprint on a sheet of white paper.
Cut-out the handprint.
Color the first two fingers of the hand with pink crayon. These are the bunny’s ears.
Fold over the third and fourth fingers, then glue into place.
Fold over the thumb and glue into place.
Draw a face on the bunny.
Glue the finished bunny on to a construction paper background and have your child add some trees, a sun, some flowers or whatever he desires.
STYROFOAM BUNNY
Materials:
Cardboard
Cotton balls
Fabric scraps
Florist wire
Hot glue
Pink and white pipe cleaners
Styrofoam egg
Small pink pompom
Scissors
Googly eyes
Wire cutter
Directions:
Pick out five cotton balls. Glue two to the middle of the egg as hands and two to the bottom as feet. Glue the fifth cotton ball to the lower back as the tail.
Bend one pink pipe cleaner in half to make the interior of the ear. Bend one white pipe cleaner around it to make the outside of the ear. Insert both into the Styrofoam. Repeat for the other ear.
Glue on the eyes and pompom for the nose.
Cut florist wire for the whiskers and insert near the nose.
Glue on the fabric scraps to dress-up the bunny.
BUNNY MAGNETS
Materials:
A roll of magnets
Cardstock cut into one large white circle, two large white ovals, and two smaller pink ovals for each bunny
Black Sharpie
Glue
Scissors
Goggly eyes
Cotton balls
Directions:
Glue the smaller ovals onto the larger ovals for the ears.
Glue the ears to the large circle.
Add the goggly eyes to the large circle. This is the bunny’s face.
Use the black Sharpie to draw on whiskers.
Glue on a cotton ball for the nose.
Glue a magnet on the back of the bunny’s face.
Allow glue to dry completely before using the magnet.
