Egg-cellent Scrapbook Ideas

With Easter just a couple of weeks away, my local scrapbook supply shop is decked out in egg-straordinary cute decor. In addition, the main display table has been reconstructed to look like a huge Easter basket filled with scrapbook tools, paper, embellishments and books filled with egg-citing layout ideas.

This may be one of the first times when I have gravitated more towards the adorable Easter-themed scrapbook paper than the festive stickers that I typically covet. I fell in love with a variety pack of paper that features vibrant-colored Easter eggs in an array of different sizes. The sample layouts used some of the paper as well as a number of stamps and die-cuts. Personally, I found some of the page designs were a bit much for my taste. In my opinion, if you are going to use an egg print paper, then you should reduce the amount of embellishments to avoid overkill. What’s more, if you are planning to use several photos on the page that mimic the egg paper colors, then you don’t want the background to overshadow the pictures, which should be the main focus on the page.

Still, I was quite inspired by the holiday-themed display. Some of the sample layouts that I plan to work off of include a page dedicated to egg decorating. Each year my daughter and I dye eggs. This year we are planning to make glitter Easter eggs and dinosaur eggs from a kit I found at Target. I also plan to design a layout to feature our annual Easter egg hunt. However, unlike years past, I plan to take photos of family members hiding the eggs before the kids come out. Finally, I fell in love with a photo used in a sample layout made by the owner of the scrapbook store. She snapped a hilarious photo of her son cramming his mouth full of marshmallow peeps. I want to take a similar one of my daughter stuffing her face with chocolate eggs.

What are you planning for your Easter layouts?
