E’s a Walker

I knew that Baby E’s birthday was coming. It really should not have been any kind of a surprise that Baby E was going to be one. I just wasn’t so sure how I wanted to ring in the day. I knew I wanted to celebrate with her; I didn’t know how big of a celebration I wanted to have.

All of E’s grandparents were planning to visit to help her change from baby to toddler status. Grammy and Papa were arriving the Tuesday before her birthday and Grandma and Grandpa were coming after. The kids, Daddy, and I were so excited about the visits that I scaled back on the size of the celebration.

Daddy and I thought that having an intimate family party would be enough for a one-year-old. It probably would have been, but we threw a big party for Jessie’s first. I invited a bunch of my friends. I invited friends who mostly had children Jessie’s and age a few the same age as Baby E. Baby E decided that she was a full-time walker in time for the party too.

We got two pepperoni, one everything, and one cheese pizza at Costco’s concession stand. We had pink lemonade and Take and Toss cups for the kids. We got a couple flavors of soda for the adults. Jessie picked out the cake at Tom Thumb and the baker wrote, “Happy 1st Birthday Baby E,” in pink script on top. We found a darling candle with Winnie The Pooh holding a number one.

When it was time for cake we put her in her highchair with a large slice. I expected her to tear into it, but she just smeared frosting all over herself and rubbed it in her eyes. We put her directly into the tubby.
