Evidence: The Bible

The Bible is an incredible book. The Bible tells the world about the Lord who created it and how to serve Him. The Word of God answers the great questions of life: How did we get here? Why are we here? Where are we going? The Bible tells us about the wonderful salvation we can have through obedience to the Lord.

In line with the last few blogs about evidence for the existence of God, this blog will center on some of the evidence which the Bible itself provides for the existence of God. There are many different examples of evidence within the Bible.

The Bible was written by the Lord. However, the Lord inspired the men who physically wrote the Bible. Second Timothy 3:16-17 states: “Every scripture inspired of God is also profitable for teaching, for reproof, for correction, for instruction which is in righteousness. That the man of God may be complete, furnished completely unto every good work.”

The Bible is a perfect work, never contradicting itself. The Bible was written over a long period time by many different writers. The writers themselves were from all different walks of life from a king to a tax collector to a tentmaker. The fact that the Bible does not contradict itself and that it was written over such a long period of time by many different men, is evidence for the existence of God.

Consider if 10 different men over 100 years wrote different books over a common topic and they were placed together as a complete volume. Would the volume make sense as a complete work? Would the volume not contradict itself? It is highly unlikely that the volume would make sense as a complete work and not contradict itself. Yet the Bible was written by at least 40 men over more than a thousand year period. I truly believe that the Bible must have been inspired by the Lord.
