What types of evidence exist that point to the Lord and to His Word? I believe a strong evidence for the Lord is described in Romans 1:20 which states: “For His invisible attributes, namely, His eternal power and divine nature, have been clearly perceived, ever since the creation of the world, in the things that have been made.” The creation – the world around us – clearly points to an Almighty Creator.
Just today I was watching one of those nature shows. You know the ones I’m talking about – where the man is fearlessly hunting snakes that are longer than he is tall? While searching for snakes the man came across two different creatures which he considered very unique.
The first animal the man came across was a type of bird, which when it is a baby, has claws that allow it to climb back into the tree if it falls. The bird then loses the claws only a few weeks after it is born when it is able to fly. The second animal was a matamata turtle, which is camouflaged perfectly to look like leaves. When he held a leaf next to the turtle you could barely even see a difference between the turtle and the leaf. Unfortunately the man appeared to believe that the “uniqueness” of the creatures came from evolution, not from the Lord.
I am a scientist and, for me, the more I learn about the world around me, whether it be the creatures on earth or the atoms we cannot see, the more I am convinced that everything cannot just all be here by accident. I am thoroughly convinced that the universe and the earth were placed here by a Superior Being. When I begin to consider the complexity of the harmony of all matter on this planet, I am amazed that man could ever be convinced otherwise.
