Exercise Gear for Pets and People

A walk is a great way for you and your dog to exercise. But if you and your pup are a little more active, you may want more than just a stroll around the neighborhood.

If you and your dog would rather jog than walk, you might want to try a hands-free leash. Give the Buddy System a try — this award winning leash has space for two dogs on the nylon belt. The belt is adjustable and comes in three sizes. The leash is adjustable too, and can be clipped to the belt at both ends so you never have to carry it. Need more lead? Extensions are available. And if you’re worried about a sudden tug knocking you off balance, you can pick up the elastic Lunge Buster to cushion shocks.

Would you rather bike with your best friend? If you’ve got a smaller dog, you can always get a bicycle basket. The days of old-fashioned wicker baskets are gone, replaced by sturdy baskets with a built-in harness to keep your pup safe. You can even find baskets with pockets for your keys, phone, and a water bottle!

For bigger dogs who love to run, you can give the Springer a try. The Springer can be mounted directly to your bicycle’s frame to hold your dog’s leash — so you can keep your hands where they belong. The low mounted spring helps keep your ride more stable by reducing the jerks and tugs as your dog runs alongside. The Springer also has a safety release, just in case you and your pup need to part ways quickly.

You might not think that an agility course would be good exercise for YOU… but have you ever watched agility trials on Animal Planet? The handlers do as much running as the dogs do! Agility training is a great way to bond with your pup and get a fun workout.
