In a previous blog I detailed some of the extraordinary amenities offered to families on Disney Cruise Lines’ ships. In addition to being able to dine with Mickey and crew at sea, the company also provides a feature that’s exclusive to their vessels. It’s called a rotating dining system and it allows pint-sized passengers and their parents to can change restaurants every night, but keep the same servers and tablemates.
Unlike its competitors Disney Cruise Lines also offers a bath and a half in most staterooms. This is a huge bonus when you are traveling with young kids. The bathtub means you don’t have to scrub up a screaming baby or toddler in a sink or shower. In addition, Disney also boasts an online service that allows you to pre-order baby supplies and have them delivered to your stateroom prior to setting sail.
Of course, Disney is not the only cruise company that caters to young families. Royal Caribbean recently teamed up with DreamWorks Animation to provide its youngest fans with a chance to set sail with their favorite animated movie characters, including Shrek, Donkey, Kung Fu Panda and the penguins from “Madagascar.”
The high seas adventure includes character meals and parades, movie-themed games in the Adventure Ocean kids’ program, the chance to watch DreamWorks Animation movies in 3D, special character shows in the Studio B ice rink and AquaTheater and a slew of character photo ops. The cruise line also features family-friendly interconnecting staterooms, multi-room suites with plenty of room for kids to stretch out, and a host of other in-cabin amenities designed especially for young passengers.
Finally, Carnival Cruise Line may not have a famous green ogre or a dancing mouse, but it does have a ton of kid-friendly features on its “fun ships,” including: rock climbing walls, ice skating rinks, miniature golf, roller blading areas, basketball courts, teen disco, arts and crafts center and a computer lab complete with a video wall.
