Fall Scrapping

I love fall. The leaves are gorgeous, the weather is mild and the layout ideas for scrapping are practically limitless. In addition to major events, such as the first day of school, Halloween and Thanksgiving, fall brings with it a myriad of other memorable moments that are prime for scrapping, including fall foliage tours, apple picking, pumpkin picking, and autumnal nature walks.

All of the aforementioned activities are frame worthy, plus they also yield amazing mementos that can be incorporated into your layouts. For example, a nature walk page design can include pressed leaves that you find along a trail, flowers, and twigs that can border your layout.

Another benefit of fall-themed scrapping is that scrapbook and craft stores are teeming with autumn scrapbook paper. You can also shop online for fab fall scrapbook paper, but I like to see the paper first-hand before I buy, so I can examine the true colors and feel the texture of the paper.

Scrapbook SuperCenter sells a book of autumn scrapbook paper from Paper Pizazz. The 24-sheet set also includes a sheet of free fall-themed tags. You can also buy the Fall Sophisticates set from Plaid, a 26-paper book that includes subtle patterns in a variety of fall colors. These simple papers are a great way to show off your photos.

Paper Wishes is also a great option. The company sells beautiful autumn-themed paper with red, yellow, and orange leaves. This design is the perfect background for photos taken while on a nature walk. For a fancier layout, try ScrappinOutlet.com. It has paper featuring a more stylized version of autumn leaves. The understated design comes in orange and brown and serves as the perfect backdrop to just about any fall-themed photograph.

Finally, for beginner scrappers, consider purchasing the Leaves Collage paper from Karen Foster Designs. The gorgeous paper features shades of orange and yellow. Its subtle design is reminiscent of high-end wallpaper, and goes well with any type of fall layout.
