Family Travel: Something for Mom in Massachusetts

In my previous blog I encouraged moms to earmark sometime on their annual family vacations to indulge in one of their favorite activities—-be it shopping, horseback riding, getting pampered at a spa, etc. Easier said than done, I know. But, thanks to some creative marketing folks at hotels around the country, travel packages designed specifically for overworked moms are ripe for the picking right now.

If you plan to be in Massachusetts sometime in the next few weeks consider taking advantage of these great deals:

BOSTON

The Boston Marriott is offering a “Baseball and Shopping” package for moms who want to score big savings at outlet malls. The deal includes hotel accommodations, two tickets to a Red Sox game at Fenway Park, plus you’ll receive roundtrip transportation from the hotel to Wrentham Village Premium Outlets for one day of shopping. New England’s largest outlet center has more than 170 name-brand outlet stores, among them Michael Kors, Kate Spade, Burberry, Juicy Couture, Restoration Hardware, Saks Fifth Avenue – Off 5th, Williams-Sonoma Marketplace, and Salvatore Ferragamo. Discounts are anywhere from 25 to 65 percent off regular prices. As part of the travel package you will also receive a $25 gift card and a VIP coupon book worth hundreds of dollars in added savings. The 38-story Marriott boasts a heated indoor pool, a health club, a sauna, a game room, and panoramic city views. Rates start at $739 for a three-night package (the rate breaks down to about $246 per night) and $919 per room for a four-night stay (about $230 per night). The offer is good through September 4, 2008.

LENOX

For moms who are looking to escape the chaos of everyday life the Seven Hills Inn located in Berkshire County is offering a Rest and Rejuvenate package. The popular retreat for the rich and famous consists of three separate compounds: the 1911 Manor House, with 12 rooms furnished with antiques and overlooking 26 acres of lawns and gardens; the Carriage House, to the right of the Manor, featuring seven suites, each complete with a kitchenette, a fireplace, and a jet tub; and the Terrace County Motel, which features 25 garden-view rooms and a deck. The package price of $235 per room per night covers accommodations plus a 15 percent discount for two tickets to The Canterville Ghost at the Shakespeare and Company. You will also receive a backstage tour and get to meet the actors. The deal is valid from September 19-October 31, 2008.
