Just about everyone loves Dolly Parton and for one of the best family vacations, you can visit her theme park – Dollywood. Located in the beautiful Smoke Mountains of Tennessee, this park is spread out over 125 acres. While there are many excellent theme parks, Dollywood has been rated among the top contenders. We visited a few years ago and I have to say – I WAS IMPRESSED!
Some of the rides in the park include The Thunderhead, an award-winning wooden roller coaster, as well as live entertainment, glassblowing, woodcarving, kiddie rides, and much more. If you want some place that also boasts festivals, then you will love Dollywood, which features the Festival of Nations, National Harvest & Music Celebration, Kids-Festsm, and Smoky Mountain Christmas.
While the theme park itself was incredible, the area was breathtakingly beautiful. For the children, there are rides such as the Amazing Flying Elephants and Shooting Star. The first ride gives kids a rid in a flying elephant car, going round and round, and up and down. For the Shooting Star ride, kids dangle their legs in a car that makes its way up a tall tower. Once at the top, the car descends quickly. One of the favorite outdoor activities for the kids is the Lil’ Loggers’ Landing. With this, kids 48 inches and under can experience the rough and tough outdoors with seesaw riders and other fun games.
The nice thing about visiting Dollywood is that the park focuses on all age groups. Therefore, regardless of the children’s ages, you will find wonderful opportunities. Then, you could head outside the park to enjoy some real southern food and hospitality. What I liked was that prices were affordable, especially considering everything we were able to do. To this day, my kids are still bugging me about going to Dollywood.
