Father’s Day 2010

Father’s Day crept up quickly this year. Luckily I was able to spend the day with a great set of Dad’s including my Father, my Father-in-law, and my brother. These men have certainly influenced me and my temperament. Specifically, they have influenced the way that I interact with babies and children. The ideas and games and baby talk don’t come from no where and these men have certainly been influential to the successful interactions with our son. The day was a busy one. It started early and ended late but was great.

We began the day with my Father-in-law. Breakfast with the entire family was a joy. Our son gleefully played on the floor with aunts and uncles as well as with his Grandfather. It would be difficult to imagine him having a happier time. Grandpa received a campfire coffee pot and I was given some specialty teas from our son (who really enjoyed the wrapping paper and the ribbons on top). After lots of food, laughter and hugs we took off in the car to visit my family and see my father.

When we arrived my Dad was heading off to somewhere in the car for a short errand. He’s been working really hard the past couple of months on an important deal at work and had been working too much (and too hard). He continued on with his task but very pointedly said, “Don’t go anywhere.” He wanted to see his son, daughter-in-law, and his grandson. Family is important to both of my families and my Dad certainly got perhaps his greatest wish on Father’s Day of having his entire family (including two grandkids) together at the same table for a meal. The meal that day was lunch and it was fun. While waiting for the food he took off with my nephew and was eventually joined by my and my son. Father’s day is an important day. How did you spend your day dads?
